Two outstanding students from Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC), DeAndre Arnold and David Renteria, were recently recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and service at the 2025 All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program, held Friday, April 11, in Birmingham.
Hosted by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), the annual event honors top scholars from each of Alabama’s 24 community and technical colleges as part of Community College Month and in conjunction with the national All-USA Academic Team program.
DeAndre Arnold, a General Studies major, has demonstrated outstanding academic performance with a 3.89 GPA. As a student ambassador and work-study student in the Marketing Department, Arnold is a familiar face at campus events, where he captures and shares student life through photography. He has been awarded the Troy University Transfer Presidential Scholarship and plans to pursue a degree in Business with aspirations of launching and managing his own companies.
David Renteria has also distinguished himself through academic achievement and service. With a 3.68 GPA, Renteria balances coursework with his work-study role in the IT Department. A recipient of the Leadership Scholarship, he plans to continue his education at the University of Alabama, majoring in Kinesiology, to become a physical therapist. Renteria recently received the University of Alabama’s Community College Presidential Scholarship.
The All-Alabama Academic Team program is sponsored by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the American Association of Community Colleges to honor students who extend their education beyond the classroom to positively impact their communities.
